Wokingham District headed to Jersey, in the Channel Islands, on Saturday 8th April to take part in the 43rd ESFA Jersey District Schools’ Festival.
It was the second year in which Wokingham have attended the festival in which every participating association would play six games during the week at F.B. Playing Fields in St Clemens. This years’ tour was again a huge success on and off the pitch and were able to end the week with their most successful tour record to date: Played 6, Won 5, Lost 1 – this was also the joint best record out of all the 18 teams competing during the week.
The tour ended a particular high as Wokingham were able to beat a very strong Potters Bar side 2-1 after coming back from behind.
This epitomised the team’s attitude and determination to succeed which has been evident throughout the season. The tour was a great success and the boys thoroughly enjoyed exploring the island on top of the football.
Team Manager, Stuart Bevan, said, “The boys have been a credit to their schools and have set high standards throughout the year. It was great to see them continue to grow and have such a successful tour whilst representing Wokingham in this prestigious festival.” Results from the tour below:
Game 1 vs Hackney (W 3-1 Z.Waight, N.Muza 2)
Game 2 vs St Albans (L 0-3)
