Sutton V Wokingham DPSFA
Saturday 21st October
Southern Counties Cup Round 1

On Saturday 21st October 2017, Wokingham faced their toughest test of the season so far in their cup thriller against Sutton away. Wokingham started the game well creating many chances and hitting the woodwork several times but it was Sutton who took the lead.
Wokingham responded well and went into the break 2-1 ahead thanks to a brace from Ejiro Abbey.

Sutton came out in the second half on the front foot and were able to score two quick goals to go into the lead. Wokingham responded and showed character to come back from behind with Josh Murray scoring off the bar from outside the box. Wokingham were not content with the draw and continued to push forward for the win and were rewarded with a last minute winner when Amar Bakkati smashed the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Great team effort and character sees Wokingham claim another cup win securing their place in the second round of both cup competitions.

Sutton 3 – 4 Wokingham

Gloucester V Wokingham
Monday 23rd October
Southern Counties League

The Southern Counties League game saw Wokingham travel away to Gloucester on Monday 23rd October. Being half term, Wokingham were short of a few players but this did not hinder the Berkshire boys who continued to build on their early season momentum. Wokingham took the lead early on in the game after Ejiro Abbey beat his man and whipped in a cross from the right which Emil Mursalov finished first time into the roof of the net.
Wokingham continued to look dangerous down the flanks whilst also looking solid and composed at the back.

In the second half, Wokingham continued to use the ball well and Emil Mursalov doubled the lead when he beat the Gloucester keeper to ball and calmly finished into the empty net. When called upon, Pranav Ganti looked assured in goal and Wokingham were able to restrict Gloucester from creating any clear cut chance. A very good team performance sees Wokingham start the Southern Counties League with three points and a clean sheet.

Gloucester 0 – 2 Wokingham
