Another great result
Another blowy morning saw Wokingham District Primary Schools U11’s face a tough Wycombe team who were sitting just a point behind Wokingham in the Southern Counties League, and looking to make a statement.
Wycombe came out of the blocks well and forced Ben Lewens to make some sharp saves, which he did with aplomb.
Some neat interchange between Coleman and Edmonds saw the Wycombe keeper called into action for the first time, tipping over a well-timed volley from Henry Mott.
Eventually the home pressure told and a well worked corner, straight off the training ground saw Mott volley in at the far post, great work coaches!!!
Almost straight from the kick off, Wycombe responded when a
long clearance was taken by the wind and blew it straight into the
Wokingham goal, to the disbelief of all watching, bad luck….
2nd half
was equally effected by the wind and disrupted the good football that
we know both teams are capable of. Just as the game looked like grinding
to a 1-1 draw, a late surge by Athey saw his pinpoint cross converted
by Domingos, nipping in at the near post. Celebrated by a typical South
American Jig by the whole team.
A tough match that leave Wokingham in 2nd place in the league 2 points behind the leaders Potters Bar.
