NOT JUST ANY COTTAGE - noir by david cliff - So if it’s a cottage with `extras` you are looking for, we have just found it for you.
The scene is set as soon as you pull through the gates. As the plot opens up you can really see the full extent of what`s on offer here with the huge open, barn style car port, detached annex comfortably sitting in this vast frontage, and then a cabin style annexe which can be anything you want it to be ....if this hasn`t got your juices flowing, you may as well move on now.
So, let us begin with Pound Cottage itself and when we have told you everything you can pop across to The Warren Inn and have a tipple while you ponder, so good to have a lovely Bistro Pub just a stroll away.
I`m going to keep things brief because seeing is believing in this instance and I don`t want to lose you.
The frontage is huge so take this in first and then wander into the square entrance hall and get your first fix of `features`, beam works and lush flooring. Turn right and go to the very end and find a huge but still cosy living room with the most stunning fireplace (Christmas anyone?). The exposed brickwork is dreamy and with two substantial beam running through and beautiful wood flooring it has just enough to make it full of feature but not overpowered. With windows and doors to three sides the light pours in, so you really have the best of both worlds.
Rewind a few steps back into the hallway and you enter a dining room or family room, fabulous square room, incredibly versatile so you have options or can change the use as life changes. Then back to the main entrance and now go left, this takes you to the kitchen / breakfast room and utility area but again you have real versatility here. The kitchen area is very well defined but as you go backwards and off to the side you have a conservatory which could easily be a bit more than it currently is, if you wanted it to be, but it really does work.
The rear lobby and utility then give the option to dump/ hide things and takes you to the WC and then doors to the gardens.
Upstairs we have bedrooms and views …. four to be precise with and en suite to the master and then huge family bathroom looking after everyone else, features galore up here but we’ll leave you to take them in on your visit.
Ok, so do you need an annexe, plus the coolest of cool cabins, no? Well can I suggest you create a need for both because they are wonderful, wonderful extras and would be criminal not to need them. Older kids? Guests that you’d rather not share the house with? A row and need somewhere to go and sulk?....come on, there must be something .... Air B&B? …. I’m trying to help here!
The annexe is one huge open plan living/kitchen/dining space with open plan kitchen and then upstairs a lovely bedroom with en suite shower room, this alone did it for me but then I saw the cabin and claimed it.
So, The `L` shaped Cabin, remember Grizzly Adams, no? Ok then just let’s go with you picturing being sat in the wilderness, actually ‘Little house On The Prairie’? …. Ok maybe I’m too old, but this place is seriously amazing, two large bedrooms, open plan kitchen/dining/ living room and then a shower room. The current owners have this licensed for running business so options options options.
So, for the younger generation I’ll go with Centre Parks and hope that I’ve set the scene.
Right, the four bay open car port, enough said, you either get excited by these things or not so I won’t bang on but it’s there and looking good.
