TOTAL TRANSFORMATION – noir by david cliff – The thought, effort and work that has gone into this project is quite amazing.

I really do wish you had seen this home as I did in its original form, it had incredible potential and many thought that a developer would buy it and almost spoil it by trying to get two homes on here as can often happen, but no.

This developer saw the potential that the original building offered and rather than sacrifice that for profit he decided to run with just one home on a fabulous plot, and so the ‘new’ version of ‘The Laurels’ was born.

The overall appearance is that of a truly individual home as you would probably expect and want. The secure gated entrance takes you into the vast frontage, ample parking for numerous vehicles, boats a motorhome if you wish, either way space is not an issue here.

The elevations have been thoughtfully created with varied materials giving contrast and texture whilst all complimenting each other so well.

Walking inside beneath the vaulted timber entrance the vast reception hall awaits and it’s quite incredible, regretfully the measurements have been left off the floor plan, but the scale is there for all to see, the pictures do give you some idea and the herringbone flooring that runs through the living space is stunning.

So, if we jump straight through to the obvious living spaces it’ll give you some idea of what we have here. The main living room is back left and a lovely size, squarer in shape so options to furnish and at almost 21ft by 17ft a fantastic space.

We then have the most incredible Kitchen/ Dining/ Family space, truly the heart of the home and room to hold a party!

The central Island unit is oversize, much needed in a space this large, room to sit and grab drinks, breakfast, and cook on the inset induction hob. They have gone for a very sleek and seamless look with gloss finish unit and stone tops that compliment the look along with the feature lighting above. You then have what everyone desires now, the full wall of glass that gives the most incredible views and access to the rear gardens through bi-fold doors.

Leading from here you have a huge utility and boot room, again well-fitted with sleek units and contrasting counter tops. This then takes you through to an inner hallway and onto the annexe, we’ll come back to that later.

We then have the office or bedroom six and this is where things start to get interesting. You can live in this home in so many ways and it can change as life changes. There are three further bedrooms on the ground floor but again they can be reception spaces, work rooms or family spaces if you prefer, and now we will come back to the annexe before we go upstairs to the stunning master suite.

The annexe is such a key part here for the right buyer. It works as a self-contained annexe with bathroom and kitchen/ utility for family who come to stay for slightly longer than you may want, teenage annexe for those older children who have got to an age where you don’t really want them waking you up when they roll in, or indeed a separate workspace.

We now come to your hideaway, the master suite. You may expect the head height to be somewhat restricted in a home of this style but it’s totally the opposite with a beautiful part vault feature and huge floor space giving the feel of a hotel suite and the finish and size of the immense en suite simply highlights this point. The feature ceiling in this space takes large Velux windows allowing light to pour in. The freestanding tub sits below two of these on marble flooring which they have run continuously up behind the bath itself creating another stunning feature. His and hers washbasins sit in a modern, sleek cabinet with huge mirror above and then the large walk-in shower shouts pure class.

Moving outside we have already covered the gated frontage, but the rear gardens are just as impressive. A large, shaped terrace gives room to relax or entertain while taking in the sun or even on those crisper days a great spot for a firepit and allows all to gather round. The remainder of the garden has very sensibly been left to grass, there is so much you could do here but with ideas and designs being so personal it’s something you can develop as you wish …. Outside kitchen?

An original summerhouse has been refurbished to allow for some immediate storage for those vital bits you’ll bring with you, even if just somewhere to store the cushions for the outside furniture.

So, there we have ‘The Laurels’ and I have to say we all love it, a unique home yes, but it’s supposed to be, it’s lovely to have something a bit different so do get in touch for a private tour.
