SEEING IS BELIEVING – Simonswood House is just one of those homes that words will not do justice too, `seeing is believing` has never been more appropriate.
This desirable address that is Wellingtonia Avenue is one that we all know and love, well known for an eclectic selection of impressive and substantial properties in the most fantastic location set amongst acres of National Trust woodland yet close to superb commuter links and the most fantastic schooling.
Simonswood House is set back from the avenue itself, beautifully tucked away and surrounded by a canopy of trees that line the driveway as you approach through the gated entrance. On arrival you are greeted with a truly individual looking home, all the work of the current owners and they have clearly approached the transformation with a great eye for quality and detail, which is the theme throughout.
The garage complex, including gym, is off set to the right-hand side, which we will come on to later, but for now we will head inside.
Wandering inside you could instantly tell that if the owners intention was to blend a contemporary look and feel with some beautiful traditional features they have achieved it, and if it wasn’t their intention they’ll probably as me to take this bit out .....
The entrance hall has the most stunning oak flooring, rich and lustrous with beautifully built-in storage with a panelled look and finish. You will also find a large cloakroom here and, as you continue, a large well-fited office, nicely tucked away from the main hustle and bustle of family home life and all that comes with it.
The central hallway opens up and reveals the staircase which continues the contemporary and traditional blend and from this area you also enter the heart of the home, a stunning split level kitchen and reception space that give you so many possibilities. The kitchen itself has a seamless look and feel, with pale grey door fronts and quartz worksurfaces, together with an attractive L shaped central island creating a cooking and dining space with ceiling mounted extraction. You have a number of integrated Miele appliances, enjoy your morning coffee from the built in coffee maker, or make tea using the Quooker boiling water tap. For those who like to cook, there are two full size ovens as well as a steam microwave combo.
A wide-open staircase descends gently to a vast vaulted reception space, the continuation of the flooring makes this one space for entertaining or relaxing with bi-fold doors opening out onto the stunning balcony style terrace…. you need to take this all in so do stand here a while.
Moving along form this incredible space you then still have a further reception room which is currently a formal dining room and then also a large living room with part vaulted feature and patio doors allowing access and views to the grounds.
Taking things upstairs you have five bedrooms, four of which have been given en suites, and they are lovely. Bedrooms one and two take things a stage further with dressing rooms so creating a full suite.
Walking into bedroom one is quite breath taking, a stunning vaulted ceiling along with full height feature window gives something very special and allows the view and light pour in.
A further staircase then takes you to floor three, another great office workspace or den, lovely little extra.
Moving outside you have an impressive triple garage complex, obviously fantastic for any car enthusiasts but also offering further potential should you have other ideas. The internal staircase then also takes you up to the gym above complete with shower and WC.
The grounds themselves are stunning, a fantastic blend of mature established trees and shrubs with large lawn areas in between. As you wander you can see that individual areas have been created to add interest, but they all look so natural, very thoughtfully done.
Then we come to the pool, after the year we have had can you imagine how great this would have been, we all know where we are heading if the dreaded lockdown hits us again!
The heated pool looks beautifully maintained and is regularly used, the large terrace surrounding it provides a sheltered and private space to bathe or entertain, truly wonderful.
In summary this home was a tough one to get our sales team to leave and come back to the office and it’s quite obvious why. Do get in touch for a private tour.
