I DOUBT YOU’LL EVER SEE ANOTHER LIKE IT – noir by david cliff – I first saw this incredible home when I sold it to the current owners 21 years ago and it is now transformed and a TOTALLY different proposition, one home has effectively become two!
Where to start ..... seriously I’m not often, if ever, lost for words but I’m struggling here, safe to say that anyone who really clicks with this unique set-up will struggle to find it anywhere else, particularly in this setting.
The approach along this rural lane with fields for as far as you can see gives that remote feeling yet you have neighbours nicely set in secluded plots and some incredible amenities minutes away. With short a walk to the re-noun Nirvana Spa, Bearwood Lakes Golf Course and Reddam School you really do have so much on country doorstep.
Pulling in through the gated entrance you arrive in the courtyard with the barn complex to your right, main house to your left and an entrance through to a rented paddocks straight ahead, and also across the lane. The overall frontage is immense and screened with a mature hedgerow that continues to the side of the main house so giving some separation.
Over the years the main house has been extended and refurbished to suit the current owners, but quality and attention to detail has been key. It’s changed as life has changed so you’ll see that you have options here to live it in in a way that suits you, versatility is the key here.
The four reception areas here are complimented with a beautiful external period building which has been lovingly converted and refurbished to create and external office but this could actually be whatever you wanted to be, gym, treatment room or garden room, but you decide as it’s far too good to be ignored.
Inside the main house the living room is a beautiful light and bright triple aspect room with high ceilings and feature box bay window to two of the aspects, a really interesting room with the fireplace as you would hope for. If you do need space for formal dining you do have it here with another lovely dual aspect room, again with feature box bay window but the open plan breakfast room is so nice we think you’d probably use this space so this dining room could make a wonderful family room?
The breakfast room we mention is just over 17 feet in width so a fantastic space with an opening through to the 26 foot deep kitchen so you see we feel this space combined across the back of the house is where the heart of the home would be. Family gathering, weekend breakfasts, Sunday lunch not to mention parties would be fantastic in this part of the house and then you can spill out into the gardens and paddocks beyond through the wall of bi-fold doors which again also let the light pour in.
Moving upstairs the arrangement of this four bedroom home has been altered to three bedrooms but could easily be reverted to four and the owners will happily do this for you. There are also two en suites and the most stunning balcony but all will be revealed on our visit. The rooms themselves are impressive and again the two front aspect rooms have the stunning feature, dual aspect box bay windows with the high ceilings again continuing throughout.
I think the main thing here is just how wonderfully kept this property is, you can see that it is to be lived in yet it’s spotless, cared for and clearly loved. Now we move onto the barn complex, this is where you really will be blown away.
This really has been a labour of love and has taken shape over many years and now gives some incredible garaging, car port and storage along with some self-contained living and a balcony with far reaching views of the countryside.
The closed garaging with Horman glass sectional automated doors looks impressive and gives a closed and protected area tall enough to take a four wheel drive but you then also have an open carport to the far end so plenty of parking along with the block paved courtyard style drive. The vast central area that joins these two extremes then takes the form of a HUGE flexible workshop not to mention a further large covered garage out to the side and rear. After you have walked over this entire space and release that the penthouse style apartment above is within reason the same footprint you start to wonder just how large the apartment is going to be.
On the ground floor you have a discreet entrance which cleverly takes the form of a spotless utility area, clever because if you are coming in from outside you can discard and muddy clothing and boots here and then go through to the inner lobby and up to this penthouse style open apartment.
As you arrive on the first floor landing you wander in and can turn left to the large kitchen / dining room and through to the master bedroom beyond or right to the stunning sitting room and huge feature balcony with incredible far-reaching views. The whole apartment has a luxury yet comfortable feel to it as you will see from the pictures but believe me it’s more impressive in the flesh and the natural light is fantastic.
The central kitchen dining space has been created with features including some very plush fitted bench style seating that will take a large dining table in the same style as you’d find on a yacht if that makes sense but again the pictures will show you. Even with this there is more space for a further breakfast table with still even more room to move around comfortably. The angular kitchen is then well-fitted with all you’ll need and incorporates breakfast bar and stools, you then have Karndene LVT flooring throughout this space which gives a quality look and feel.
The shower room is as you would want and expect, well planned and well finished with huge walk-in shower, impressive contemporary vanity units with inset sink ….. really very very nicely done.
Now we wander through to my favourite room, the living room. The angled ceilings make this room as they do the rest of the apartment but here they create features for the windows and the doors which open out onto the huge balcony. The room itself is triple aspect so you can imagine the light that floods into here and if that isn’t enough you can simply wander out onto the huge balcony which is private enough to relax and large enough to entertain on.
So, there we have The Firs from an accommodation point of view and it really is a lovely home, forever home, family home and now we move outside.
The nice things here is that things are quite simple. There is a natural separation between the main house and the barn complex if you prefer it that way but it doesn’t have to be if you would like it to work more as one?
The gated block paved courtyard area is extensive with room to park and turn numerous vehicles. The gardens to the main house are all enclosed with some stunning views to the open paddocks beyond which is on a re-assignable lease with the owner of The Firs. The land owner is quite happy for skids to be used on the this land so horses can be worked here and if not the current owner has landed helicopters, walked their dogs and had some amazing parties!
Within the main boundary are several patio areas, the fantastic brick built outside office and the coolest Breeze House (available by separate negotiation). The remainder has been simply laid to lawn and surrounds the property and it works, really works.
All in all this is one of the most unique and versatile homes we have had the pleasure of marketing and we can’t want to see what you think about, do get in touch to arrange a tour.
