WHAT A GREAT LOOKING HOME - noir by david cliff - This beautiful double fronted Grade 11 Listed home has been through quite some journey, it seems that all the hard work has been done and now you can enjoy the end product.
The current owners have really shown so much dedication, when they took charge of this they were faced with a property in two halves, part residential and part commercial but they saw the true potential and have seen the job through. If not for a change in their needs they would stay but the upside is that it now gives someone else the chance to enjoy town centre living.
Believed to date back to circa 1790 and in one of Wokinghams oldest roads, this period home just looks the part to us, the contrasting brickwork gives such a great look with large sash style windows breaking things up really well. It`s a GRAND look, STRONG look but also really welcoming and you have the same feeling inside.
Wandering into the entrance you have space to get in, get shoes and coats off and greet guests and then you have the rest of the home to discover. The main living room is more than a snug but has a snug and cosy feel if that makes sense, a room to retreat to, watch a movie with a glass of something and relax.
You then also have a good size study or family room which gives a bit of versatility, options and can change its use as life changes.
Finding or creating modern living features In a period home isn’t always easy but the current owners here have achieved it in the form of a large `L` shaped kitchen, dining, living space which completes the ground floor (we haven’t mentioned the cellar yet) and is a feature that many of us want and need, it’s just how we live.
This overall space really does give what is needed. The cellar is a fantastic extra, the owner has advised us that it has been tanked and in full use and it certainly appears to be so well worth investigating ...... no cobwebs when I went down there.
Moving upstairs we start to get some more exposed brick and beam work and it’s stunning, if you are in to this kind of look you really will love it. The bedrooms are split over these two floors with two on the first floor along with the family bathroom and then two further beautiful bedrooms on the top floor with some incredible views across the roof tops of town.
Moving outside you have a really cute walled garden with characterful blocked paved terrace area and then lawn to the side. The huge bonus here is that the paved area doubles up as a dedicated parking area, so rare in the town centre. The raised sleeper edged planting then adds even more feature and ties in really well with the period brickwork.
All in all you have a great looking and versatile period home in one of Wokinghams most desirable and well known roads.........and you could live here!
