Beautiful SettingBEAUTIFUL SETTING - Have I mentioned that I LOVE this village? Along with living in this wonderful village as an 11yr old upwards I was fortunate enough to spend a year in this select pocket of Swallowfield some time back and I have to say that we still talk about it now.
My three boys loved the space out front, room for them to grow and enjoy being kids not to mention their very own meadow to play in which lets face it isn`t something many can say they have literally on their door step ...... fun times.
The grown-ups didn`t fair too badly either, lovely sense of community and safety, which continues to grow, whilst still very much having your own space so you don`t feel you`re constantly sharing your life with your neighbour, nice combination I think you`ll agree.
So, first things first ... When it comes to Swallowfield I`m a bit biased (if you haven`t noticed already), my mother still lives out here along with a lot of good friends and it`s a fantastic village to grow up in, settle down in or retire to.....it has something for everyone. As a quintessential English village, it`s well-known for its picturesque setting and traditional local amenities, including GP Practice/ Pharmacy, General Store, Post Office and two pubs plus a thriving community with Parish Hall and a Church. Residents enjoy a perfect blend of peaceful, rural surrounds with easy access to town centre attractions, with the vibrant area of Reading just over 15 minutes from the village by car, or by regular Bus service and Wokingham a short hop away. The primary school in Farley Hill is highly regarded and Bohunt, in the local area, is fantastic for comprehensive school requirements. Bus connections also give access to Reading and Hampshire schools.
Now to the home itself, simply lovely, great feel, great space and beautifully presented throughout. As you drive into The Naylors you are genuinely struck by the feeling of space and the sheer depth of the frontages, this all creates the feel not to mention the practical things like parking!
Wandering inside you do have a fantastic size entrance hall, this is often a space forgotten about but the beauty here is not only the space to get shoes and coats of but you have room to furnish it and make it more than just an entrance. Turning left through double doors you get your first glimpse of the stunning drawing room with the most impressive inglenook fireplace. The triple aspect and great ceiling heights really do make this a room that you walk into and smile, it`s a great size and the almost 15ft width allows you all the furnishing layouts you can think of so you can chop and change if you wish.
Central and to the rear is the family room, this like the drawing room has doors out onto the gardens but via a box bay feature which gives some real interest to the room. It goes without saying that you have some versatility here too, if you didn`t need the family room and didn`t want to use bedroom five as study then this space would make an incredible work space.
I was torn between the drawing room and kitchen/dining room as my favourite rooms in the house. The kitchen/dining room runs front to back so again a great size and the current owners have re-fitted beautifully, the main kitchen has plenty of storage and work top / prep area and integrated appliances, the Island unit then offers the divide and a seating area. The remaining space can be as you wish, dining, seating or both, with bi-folds across the back onto the garden it can all open up for those bbqs too, genuinely this rooms makes everything work.
Upstairs you have five bedrooms and the master suite is lovely, an impressive square shaped room with stunning en suite shower room and with bedroom five right next door some would look at incorporating this room too to create a dressing room and en suite combination, or indeed a nursery should it be needed. The four remaining bedrooms are all great sizes with a family bathroom with separate shower cubicle which again has been beautifully re-fitted, real class.
The gardens are also a key feature here, the frontage is vast and when we were here the kids played out there and in the meadow pretty much all day and it worked really well. You also get the huge driveway here which with guests and a growing family should never been undervalued, and obviously leads to the detached double garage.
To the rear the garden is enclosed with a tree lined back drop giving a great level of privacy, the terrace area extends the full width and has a larger area for seating dining and sunbathing when the weather allows. I have to say that the combination of this, the frontage and the meadow is all you could need really.
So ......... this has to be one of my favourite homes, not for reasons of grandeur, although it is impressive, but because it just has that feel about it so do come over and see if it works for you and yours.
