BEST OF BOTH WORLDS - I remember driving down this road for the first time when I came to Wokingham to work over 20yrs ago and going back to my then employer and asking him how do I get to live in Dell road, he just told me to sell more and save ..... truly inspirational, not !
So rarely do you get the chance to live in somewhere like this, as you drive into leafy Finchampstead village and swing left onto The Ridges you know this is going to be good. Dropping down into Dell road you get a real feel for the setting, truly rural and yet you have so much on your doorstep still, best of both worlds would be a fair description.
Wandering inside you still don`t realize the true depth of this home, the integral double garage does deceive the eye but all is about to be revealed. The entrance hall is a good size and actually leads somewhere, strange thing to say but it isn`t a small square with doors off, it actually takes you right into the heart of the home. Turning left you enter a vast reception room some 31 feet in length, your eye line is taken out into the large gardens to the rear and beyond, to the front you have double doors that take you to a lovely snug but very workable study with great view to the copse.
This reception room itself is really versatile, it makes sense for it to be the main living room for watching a movie, hiding from the children or just getting quiet time to read a book, the working fireplace allows for snug fires in the winter months, a retreat, and a nice one at that.
Now we come to my favourite part, the heart of the home...... this truly versatile space allows family living, dining, entertaining and of course cooking, all the things I love and to be honest the way most of us live today. This social relaxed space has views and access that allows you to spill out into the lovely gardens in the summer, or winter for that matter, and just enjoy good times. By the same token the clever separations between areas means you can be here alone and not feel that you are standing in a huge sprawling space.
Moving upstairs the clean lines and same modern colours continue, there are four good bedrooms here. The master does have a beautiful en suite as you will expect, you also have lovely views out across the gardens and copse beyond, a view you`ll never really get bored of I don`t think with bedrooms two and four sharing the same aspect. Bedroom three is another double room with built in storage and to be fair although looks out to the front the setting is so good you still have lovely rural views.
In my humble opinion the gardens are just perfect, large terrace immediately abutting the rear and flowing the full width, incredible space to relax or entertain in numbers if needed, room for all. Then we have the lawn, great size and extending the full depth but then interspersed with mature shrub beds to add screening and areas interest. Huge bonus here is a great cabin (by separate negotiation) it gives a fun, purposeful work room, den and has also been used as a further guest bedrooms in the past. With a hidden veggie patch too you can live the good life (ish) too and do your bit.....or just pretend?
I could easily waffle on but to be totally honest you will only ever get the true effect and feel of this home by driving here, soaking up the approach and then taking yourself inside, let us know when you are free to go.
