EXCEPTIONAL SAYS IT ALL - noir by david cliff - This really is one of the most impressive homes we have seen for some time, if offers over 5000 sq ft of ‘space’ and versatility to a level that you’ll find hard to acquire elsewhere, a real credit to the current owners who created it.
I first saw Shaw Mount some years ago and set over three floors it REALLY works. Whether you are walking around alone or have a house full of guests it feels right, not an easy thing to achieve, and proves the balance of each floor has been very very well planned.
Wandering in, the large entrance hall is modern, contemporary light and bright with a huge double height void making an incredible feature, take a moment to take it all in and then realise that you also have an ideal spot for that huge chandelier style light fitting you’ve always wanted. This central space with its sleek look then gives the first of two staircases taking you down lower ground floor and obviously a further staircase to the first floor. As you’ll see from the pictures the style inside is consistent throughout and looks as fresh as when built some 7 years ago.
This ground floor offers a choice of living rooms, one to the front and one to the rear, a huge playroom and then an incredible kitchen / breakfast room with bi-fold doors allowing you to spill out onto the rear terrace and large gardens beyond. The kitchen itself has been beautifully fitted with floor to ceiling flush finish units, huge central Island and integrated appliances. Often regarded as the heart of the home you really can see how family life would revolve around this space along with some incredible parties.
The lower ground floor is our favourite space and you can see why. We do often see attempts at Cinema rooms and are sometimes underwhelmed but not at Shaw Mount. This room is firstly over 25ft by 20ft so has room to truly spread out and enjoy the movie or sporting events in numbers if you prefer but the comfy seating (not included) also allows you to lounge around on your own and shed a tear at the odd chick flick with no one knowing …… and the bar also helps, movie and a glass of something?
You then also have a separate Games Room and study on this floor with utility area, WC and then a full guest suite complete with en suite and dressing room.
The top floor is then home to the further five bedrooms. The full effect of the double height void is almost at its best from up here looking down the Oak and glass staircase top the sleek entrance hall below, the landing area then mirrors this. Three of the bedrooms have full en suite facilities with two then also having dressing rooms. The final two then have use if the impressive family bathroom. Unusual as it is to have all ‘genuine’ double rooms in a six bedroom home you do here, and that’s truly where you appreciate the thought and use of the space not to mention that overall four of the six are genuine suites.
One other thing worth mentioning at this point, as you’ve seen the whole inside of the property is the choice and quality of the flooring. Every space you go into seems to compliment the previous space and the flooring has a lot to do with this, not just the quality of the materials used but also the attention to detail of how they have been laid and finished.
