Nick Markham Memorial Football Game

Finchampstead FC are holding a football game dedicated to the loving memory of the great and only Nick Markham, a man who touched each and everyone of the Finch player’s lives and someone whom will be dearly missed by all.

Nick started at Finch in 1996 with his son George, he got involved with the running of the team and became club secretary in 2002. At that time the club had 10 teams and less than 120 members, last year the club had 25 teams and over 320 members.

The Nick Markham Memorial Football Game will be taking place on Sunday 8th April starting at 12:30pm. There will be a BBQ, Bouncy Castle, Raffle and the Football Match between the two Finch teams made up of the current and former Finch first team players managed by our Jon Laugharne and George Markham (Nick’s son). The teams are playing for the Nick Markham Cup, a game which will become an annual feature in our club Calendar.

Kick off at 2pm and a Presentation will take place in the bar after the game.

Please come down and join the fun at Finchampstead FC, show your support and celebrate the life of Nick Markham. On the day we are also having a balloon release. Each balloon is £5 and it would be wonderful if we could sell these prior to the day.A payment can be made our online bank account using the reference: Name / Age GroupBarclaysSort Code: 20-45-45Account No: 70563226All proceeds will be donated to “Nick’s Fund” The use of these monies and a lasting memorial to Nick will be announced on “Nick’s Day”.For those worried about the environmental concerns of a balloon release we have reduced the number of balloons and will be using dove messages instead of cards. The hand made paper contains wild flower seeds. There is a message printed on them to ask people to plant if they land on pathways and so on.
