COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Cross Country course will follow roughly the same route as last year.  There will not be pink flags at the start as these did spook some horses!  The warm-up is large and the course is flat but uses the rills/undulations of the parkland.  The Intermediate has a short wooded section and some big ditches, but last year rode very straightforward.  The combinations will be tweaked to make them slightly more technical but otherwise the course will be similar making it an ideal first-time Intermediate.  The BE100 is straightforward, with a coffin (or half-coffin) and water, the Novice has plenty of combinations, a coffin, trakehner and water and some turning lines to skinnies that will be adjusted slightly but will still require accurate riding.  Both lower level courses are inviting and educational for a first run at the level, though a clear round is not guaranteed!   In firm conditions, our land agrivates beautifully, giving a lovely sandy soil.  We will agrivate all phases and warm-ups if need be, and water where possible.  We aim to have two show-jumping arenas so we can move to fresh ground when needed, and this will mean dividing the horse-walk better so it does not get crowded around the trade-stands/horse-walk.  The dressage will be a 5min walk from the lorry park on a beautiful, flat site of old turf that rode fantastically well in last year’s drought.  The warm-up will be expanded and more room given around the arenas.
