Swindon 0-8 Wokingham
Wokingham cruised to an emphatic away win as they beat bottom of the league Swindon 8-0. Even with a bare nine, Wokingham turned up on this bitterly cold event full of confidence.
In the opening ten minutes, Harvey Goode started his tally for the day as he watched his long distance effort sail into the top left. Minutes later, Ben Harris doubled the visitors advantage when his casual yet precise long range shot was placed low and in the corner – the keeper stood no chance and Ben made the game look simple. Before the break, Wokingham enjoyed much of the ball, with Swindon’s keeper making some fantastic saves. However, after a series of corners, Harris finally got his second and Wokingham’s third as he bundled a goal mouth scrap over the line.
The second half saw Wokingham’s front three flourish as Swindon’s defence continued to leave holes down the channels. Harvey Goode grabbed his second, and assisted Scott Morgan for Wokingham’s fifth after some excellent, free-flowing football in the final third. As Brandon Kingsbury continued to cause Swindon’s defence headaches with his high pressing and superb movement and was unlucky to see one of his efforts come off the bar. Later, Harvey Goode continued his goal scoring form, as he followed up a Kingsbury effort to secure his hattrick with a tap in.
Wokingham’s seventh came when the lively Kingsbury was brought down in the box, enabling Max Smith to add his name to the score sheet with a confidently placed penalty. The final goal of the game was Goode’s fourth and arguably his best as he unleashed a looping shot which carried the ball over the keeper and into the back of the net on the full time whistle.
Well done lads
